The Connecticut Science Center wanted highly interactive, physically engaging exhibits to create experiences that can’t be had at home or on a mobile device. Visitors push, pull, pedal, and touch to discover the wonders of the natural and not-so-natural worlds.
Visitor favorites include a green screen weather forecast studio in which visitors can create a script, read it on a teleprompter, record it, and access a composited video with Doppler images and graphics when they get home. Another popular exhibit is “Esther the Digester,” a game in which kids can see the effects of diet and exercise on their overall health. You feed Esther various food items imbedded with RFID tags and pull a lever to simulate her exercise routine. Feed her too much and she becomes obese… too little and she becomes too fatigued to do her homework.
As the producer, I was involved in the creation of all 20 exhibits from concept to completion. I was the main point of contact with our clients and was responsible for managing the schedule and budget, as well as leading and coordinating content and design development, graphic and video production, and interaction design and implementation.
